Quotables from Blissdom Speakers

There were so many great speakers at Blissdom this year. It can be a challenge to decide whose session to attend, so I chose sessions based on what I needed to forward and grow my craft and my business. That is not to say the other sessions were not equally as important, I wish I could have attended every single one. I have enjoyed reading the recaps from the attendees because it let me know I have something to look forward to when Blissdom at Home is released. On that note, here are a few of the quotable bits of advice, inspiration and wisdom I heard during the sessions I attended:

The road to awesome is a loop. You get younger when you learn something new. ~ Jon Acuff

Your audience is visually stimulated. Photos inspire people to act. ~ David Molnar

Normal is boring. Have an opinion. ~ C.C. Chapman

Your visibility is more important than your ability. ~ John Morgan

Write about issues, not individuals. ~ Jon Acuff

Your brand is not your logo. ~ Scott Stratten

Make a list of what your competition never does, then do it. ~ John Morgan

A Daily Dose of Inspiration - Quotes

I love a great quote, but I especially love short ones that are easy to remember and offer a dose of inspiration in the middle of the day. The quotes are not mine but the pictures are. I am thinking I should use things I say on my own pictures. We all have something relevant to offer into the world with our words and our presence. I will start using my own words and my own pictures.

What are some of your favorite quotes? What inspires you?

Exploring Color **Orange**

orange_explore

Orange is optimistic, uplifting and healing color. It is an excellent color to use during economic difficulties that keeps us motivated and helping us to look on the bright side of life. Orange brings a sense of spontaneity and a positive outlook on life.

The color orange relates to adventure and risk-taking. It inspires physical confidence, independence and a confident attitude. People inspired by orange are always on the go!

Put some orange in your life when you want:

  • to spice things up when you feel like life is dragging
  • to become more involved in something
  • to increase your creativity
  • relief from the seriousness of things

Finding a Creative Space to Write

This coffee shop is not far from where I work. I like it here a lot. The people are nice, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and it is great for people watching. This may be a place I frequent quite a bit when I need to write. Coffee shops for urban dwellers seems to be what parks are to suburbanites. A place to hang out, meet a few friends or just chill. I admit I love getting outside when I have the chance, as fresh air and nature can be rather inspiring.

I have been struggling the past few months with writing consistently. When I do have these kinds of moments, putting myself in a different space or atmosphere always seems to help. And, changing where I write also gives me permission to write badly. Sometimes, you just have to get something on the paper. Do the work instead of waiting to be inspired. I know for myself, if I waited to be inspired, I would not write a single word.

Do you have a favorite place you go to when you need to recharge your creative batteries?

Inspired by the Unlimited Power of Chance

I made a cup of tea this morning and these were the messages on my tags. The one that struck me the most was the one about chances. The simplicity of the message of those six words made me think about the chances I am taking in my life now. It is a lot like being bold. Are you living your life boldly or waiting for chance to find you? I am continuing to learn that life just doesn’t work that way. You have to take action.

Those six words basically say take action. You want more, then grab them, but it doesn’t stop there. You have to do something with them. What are you doing right now, at this point in your life, to move closer to what you want out of life? How are you actively living? I want to know.
