I am a huge supporter of women owned and run businesses. When I first saw Girl Lux’s Pocket Pantie, I said to a friend, “I wish these were out when I was younger.” The transition from being a girl to womanhood is not an easy one for some of our young ladies and many of the clothing companies never caught up with the needs of women and still have not caught up with the needs of our girls.
What Girl Lux has done is create something our girls can be proud to wear without advertising what they are wearing. The pocket pantie has a small interior pocket that is just the right size to hold a liner or thin maxi. The pocket is sewn in right below the waistband and it does not show when any girl is seated. To be honest, the pocket is perfect for holding my keys when I am out walking or jogging. It is very smart.
Girl Lux also makes a girl short that is seamless and a line of skin toned undergarments for the modern tween. The Debut Bra is a new and improved version of the training bra and comes in five shades of skin tone matching colors to make it less visible under light-colored blouses and tees. Finally, someone who gets it when it comes to undergarments being discreet for young ladies who are wearing their first bra.
Right now, Girl Lux has a Kickstarter campaign for the Pocket Pantie. Founder, Melissa Ovard started Girl Lux after recalling her own challenges as a young girl. A Korean American adoptee, Melissa was raised in a home that celebrated diversity and the beauty of all skin tones. She wanted to create undergarments that complemented every girl no matter her shape or skin color. Something else I really like about Girl Lux is you will not see little girls in underwear in any of their advertisements or promotions. I think that is pretty awesome.
