One of the things I want to do more of in 2015 is take pictures. I would like to be more deliberate with what I take pictures of and telling better stories with them. I enjoy looking at the pretty pictures on Instagram, but I find I am most intrigued by the images that are simple and intentional.
That being said, I decided to try my hand at shooting a photo every day and I invite you to join me. A few of my friends purchased or received cameras for Christmas and I have been trying to come up with a way to help them shoot better pictures in a fun, supportive way. The best way to get better at anything is with practice and while I am happy with my photography, I am always open to improving.
Below are prompts for the upcoming month. If you miss a day, who cares! The point here is to have fun, tell a story with your picture and to grow your photography. What I hope to see by the year end is a collection of photographs I can be proud of and a group of kindred spirits who love photography as much as I do.
Here is how the photo a day challenge is going to work:
- New photo prompts will go up before the 1st of each month, most likely in a blog post, so you can join in. Use the prompt to shoot something literal or out of the box. It is your interpretation of the prompt that matters most.
- Use the hashtag #luluphotoaday to make it easy for me and others to find your photos on any social media platform and that is it!
- If you miss a day, don’t worry about it. I want you to have fun, stretch yourself creatively and create an awesome collection of photos.
Do you want to play along? I hope so! It’s going to be a great new year and an amazing year of photography.
